Introduction
I was born in Darwin in 1972, but relocated to Victoria after Cyclone Tracy devastated the city.
Rochester Pony club was my first foray into horses with a very naughty bay, followed by a beloved grey, Nebula. I enjoyed eventing the most with the discipline of dressage and the thrill of Cross country.
I studied at Monash University completing a Bachelor of Jewellery and Silversmithing. This was followed up with several years in Europe growing up and experiencing some amazing things before I enrolled in a Postgraduate Certificate in Jewellery at London Guildhall University.
Finally setting up home in the UK’s most northerly island of Shetland, I found my jewellery studio wasn’t fulfilling all my artistic needs and I began looking for another avenue to focus my energy on.
It was during my last 2 years on Shetland that I retrained as a bridlemaker with Master Saddler, Phillip Howard and his wife Karen, who is a Qualified Saddler. I thought that making bridles would give me a great sense of satisfaction, using a medium that was both flexible in design and production. Although I have a great appreciation for Saddlery, it is the bridle that I love the most. To see a well fitting and well made bridle or in-hand halter on a lovely head is to me.....heaven.
Our family relocated to WA in February 2008, where I have now set up a workshop and am working full time as a bridlemaker.
